RUNWAY REPORT SPRING 2012
Spring allows us to view fashions in a fresh way. It’s a season of renewal.

COLOR STORY
For spring 2012, color takes center stage. On the American runway, hot colors for spring 2012 are orange, lime/bright green, hot pink/fuchsia, mint green and bright yellow. Light purple and soft blue are in fashion as well. A popular trend for the upcoming seasons is mixing colors. You have dessert shades such as turquoise, coral and sand. If you prefer neutrals, Safari hues like tan and olive are fashionable color combinations as well. We also have our classic black and white. But this season, pop it with a little color. Also on trend is color blocking. BCBG’s spring 2012 collection presents a sophisticated way to wear colors; soft color blocks on neutral backgrounds. Most designers showcased no more than two prominent colors in their designs. One of my favorites color combos is sky blue and lavender.

Romantic Looks

Spring 2012 is all about feminine looks; pretty pieces that are easy to wear. There are flowing chiffon dresses, flocks with sheer inlays or overlays, ruffles and floral prints. While longer hemlines are gaining in popularity. Short dresses aren’t going without a fight. For spring, round one goes to above the knee frocks.

Lady Like
A trend that is moving forward is sporting coordinated looks that aren’t so coordinated. Tracy Reese for fall 2012 pairs a white on black checker jacket with a olive and light blue short floral dress. It worked.

Global Fashions Revisited

Lamb, Candela and Pamela Love are among the designers who showcased global designs. Lamb featured creations with ikat prints, Candela showcased a tropical vintage vibe inspired by her Uruguayan ranching roots and Pamel Love‘s exotic waterfall necklaces, bold bracelets and rings are off the chain.
